“The Numb Girl” (A Poetry)

A girl was sitting on the bench; below the big black pine tree.

The sunbeam bathed her skin and the breeze of autumn wrapped her body.

She was wondering; what had happened to her lately?

As people passed her by, as the birds chirped above her, as the last song started to fade away.

The girl’s brain was filled with inquiries.

Why it was so effortless for her to be beholden lately.

What the meaning of her tranquil gaze that she had every day before she closed her eyes was.

Her face formed a pensive frown as the last question hit:

Why did she say thank God assuredly even in her bad days?

The band that played the songs was gone; left her alone with her chirping birds.

It was afternoon and the sun started setting behind the brick building.

The girl packed her belonging; a book and coffee.

She stood up and moved her feet to go home.

Then she left all of her questions that she had behind.

When she walked on the pedestrian street,

She mumbled to herself, “Thanks, God, for this nice Sunday.”

Smiling, she even forgot that she lost her dog this morning.
